Is this mastitis?
I got another milker yesterday from a herd that is usually healthy. The guy told me she had been sick with a bit of bloat this spring and her milk supply decreased. I took her without her babies and have been milking regularly and dry.
Her udder is very hot, does not feel lumpy when full (she's only giving 1 qt. 2x a day), feels a bit lumy when dry, and she gave out a few chunky pieces of milk tonight from her left teat. When she was done milking, I massaged her udder and was able to squeeze out a tiny bit more each time. No blood.
Does she have mastitis? Is it safe to drink the milk? Do udders have lumpy qualities when the goat is dry?
