Friday the 13th for goats

Wouldn't you know. Being a firm NON-believer of the whole friday the 13th thing, I woke up this morning like every other morning......except:

My milking doe (with 4 week old kid on her) got bloat this morning. So spent the entire morning attempting to drench her with veggie oil & baking soda, then walking her around in the muggy heat, massaging her gut, and more walking, all the while her kid running around us like crazy.

The little bugger of a Nigerian wether decided that he really wanted to stay in the henhouse with the hens. Except the door opening is like only 8" x 11"......he got stuck and was there for goodness knows how long. Chickens were ticked also as he was blocking the only entrance to their laying boxes (let us in....we have to lay an egg like NOW!!!!)

Then, my lamancha doe somehow managed to get her entire head stuck into the manger. And we though we designed it to be totally goat proof...HA! She was also stuck in there anywhere from 2 minutes to about an hour.

Mind you, this was all BEFORE noon today.

I'm ready for Saturday the 14th!

well, that explains it!
I found a goat that doesn't really seem bloated, but is really not well... working like it is bloat, and having zero results,
and my DD was throwing up all the way home from an afternoon of essential shopping, now that was fun!
Also got a call from a lady that the vet's assistant recommended call me, cause I was the only one in the area that had goats.
The vet was out and her goats had "bug bites"
But, by the time the bloat and throwing up events were under control she was on her way to another vet. I wished her well.....

well, back out with oil and walking in the rain. (do you KNOW how hard it is to walk a goat that feels bad in the rain???????)
