another question about worming with Cydectin...

I have a nubian doe in milk with an almost 3 month old buckling (he was banded yesterday) who nurses during the day and is put up at night- I milk the mom in the morning. I also have a sannen mix doe who is potentialy due on june 23( still cant tell if she is pregnant).
I wormed the nubian mom last saturday with Cydectin orally (cattle pour on type) due to needing it. The other 2 (buckling and saanen) have not showed any signs but wonder if I should deworm them too since they are all in the same pen. The buckling will be going to his new home this weekend and I wonder if I should worm him before he goes with the cydectin. Can/should I also worm the possible pregnant doe with the cydectin?
Should I do a follow up worming with the Nubian? How long after the first treatment do I dose her?
Thank you for your help in answering my questions.

needing it? did you have a fecal check done? this is the only way to say they needed it. ideally fecal is done before you worm, and two weeks after the second worming to make sure the wormer took care of what was "needed"
every parasite has a different life cycle. another reason why it is important what you are going after and how to use the de-wormer.

Tammie,
Sorry I didn't get back to you. I would worm Fern's buckling/wether. He's more than old enough and he ought to be wormed before he goes to his new home. With Fern I don't think you need the ten day later dose this time around. She's just pale correct? No signs of the Bottle Jaw coming back again? In Chia's case I would hold off to see if she kids, but taht is me. She would need to be wormed the day she kisd. The concern there is how short your grass is and the exposure to Chia of Fern's wormload.

Susanne, due to the doe's history and her eyelids growing pale she did need it in this case.

Until you are going to learn to fecal or take a fecal in to be read, you should pen worm. Like Roseanna said worm everyone, then when the doe kids in June, worm everyone the day she kids. If you can keep everyone out of the barn and pasture for about 12 hours after you worm it will go a long way in keeping the small ones our of the worms. vicki

Thank you. Roseanna thats not a problem. I just wanted to check before sending him off to his new home. Thought that way if he is set for them.
No signs of bottle jaw this time around thankfully..LOL She has had the clumps and is alternating with the regular stools. The pinks are starting to get more pink already- not as or more pale.
Chia has been in odd behavior- as in rather nice and passive to the others. Saw a bit more of discharge this time the off color. It seems she has had some about 1x a week for the last 3. She has been of odd personality but normal stools and pinks. Since she is due in just 1 1/2 weeks I think I will hold off since it is such a short time from now.
I have been raking out the pen every day and changing the shed bedding every few days. Spraying everything down with hot soapy water and such each time -air drying afterwards before putting in new bedding.
Thank you for your help...The vet office wants a paid visit ($60) to do just the fecal and no one else around will do them. So I am searching the box's for the microscope we bought the kids. I know its down there somewhere...

No, not waiting, but knowing due to the doe's history it is a possibility. She had bottle jaw twice last summer/fall and I had to hit her with a number of wormers the second time when I brought her here to get it under control.
She was not intentionally bred either, but carried healthy twins to term.
Better care this time around as the doe was purchased last summer by Tammie with some issues which she and I worked together to resolve.

Right, no crystal ball. Fern is the Nubian cross doe who kidded in March and Chia is the Saanen cross doe hopefully due to kid in a couple of weeks.

what white wormer to use?

we just moved into Oklahoma from Oregon, my oldest doe is an Alpine and I cannot seem to get her to gain any weight. I have wormed using Ivermec, 1cc per 50 lbs. every 10-14 days... doing this 3 times in a row.

her eyelids are solid WHITE and a couple of times she has acted very weak, no signs of bottle jaw, no scours, nothing visable in her droppings

what white wormer would be good for us in this area??

thanks Misty

misty please bring a fecal to your vet first.
ivermectin dosage is 1cc per 20lb if you used the 1% pour on. the amount you gave is probably way too low or not effective in your area.
you probably would need to use cydectin cattle pour on. 1cc per 22 pound. please heve a fecal check done first.
do you know any goat people in your area?

Susanne is right! I took a doe to the Vet today, she is still pink, but not gaining and just acting off. We had already wormed three weeks ago, silly me thought it just couldn't be that, because I had already wormed and there was no sign of them. WRONG! Had a fecal done, and wouldn't ya know it. Gotta worm again. I knew better, just let things slip around here due to health and other issues, and now I have to get busy. Withut fecals there is just no way of knowing for sure.
