Banding question

I have a little buckling that we banded...but it doesn't seem to be progressing any further than where it's at. The sac is shrivelled and dead, but it hasn't completely separated from the body...it's hanging on with some tissue at his body that doesn't look as if it's going to die off...

Suggestions? I've been keeping it clean and dry as much as possible hoping that it will facilitate the drying and dying off... It doesn't have a bad smell either.

It was done over three weeks ago....I think it's doing it's thing though. I checked again last night and there is even less hanging on now. I'm keeping it dry so it must be working...there is really no smell, just looks gross. This is our first banding of a buckling though. I do think we waited a little longer than we should have, but it happens sometimes.

Ever notice how when they finally do drop off ... you can't find them? They aren't in the barn, they aren't in the pasture. Where did they go? Did the goat eat them? Did the dog eat them?

I've got a little guy who absolutely needs to be banded (he's getting old) but with the wet, nasty weather I hate to do it right now. I want it to dry out a little just to try and reduce the chance of infection.

my little ones took about month to fall off. i saw the shriveled thing on the driveway and then one our dogs strolled by and picked it up. hmmmm maybe you could market them, they sell pig snout and ears for dogs why not goat testes.

After a couple of weeks it's safe to just cut below the band.
Ive found several that have fallen off, and they seem to take about 4 weeks average

I offered to make my wife a coin purse out of a pair. Strangely enough, she declined.

Heh. No, I come with many, many flaws according to my wife.

I insisted that I really did want to make a small bag out of the testicular sack (after it had been dried and properly cured) and my wife finally agreed but only on the condition that she could tell everyone that it was MY sack that she removed. I didn't think she was bluffing so I backed down.
