At what age

does the horns start to show in a pygmy?
My mother's day gift was a little pygmy buck who was born in Feb. He has yet to get any horn buds. We where told he was NOT dehorned. Are they just slower to show?

Polled pygmies aren't that common... you sure it's not a polled nigie?

A buckling that doesn't have any horns yet? Usually I can feel the buds on a newborn buckling. Can you feel any? I disbud within 3 days of birth with bucklings, usually the day after because their horns grow so FAST!

His horned dam did look like a nigie(in a pic) sorta and they do have them. We didn't get to see any the pic of the sire.
We know the family that has the herd but right now they are on vacation and their eldest son is coming to to care for the goats. I told my son I wanted a dark carmel pygmy buckling from this herd. now you got me wondering. Maybe he went and just got any dark carmel.
what do you think?

If he wasn't disbudded & born in Febuary, then he is naturally polled. My Nigerian & pygmy bucklings are usually getting their little horn buds with in the first week.

I was afraid of that. I want horns. I know, I know, most thinks dehorned is better but I see things a bit differently. I will feel around on his head again.

Nah, I think he's got pygmy to him. Maybe not the show type pygmy. Pygmies are bred to look like kegs on toothpick legs. The unregistered pygmies gravitate to longer legs and PROPER proportions and normal conformation. If you have the general 'unregistered' pygmies and then look at a registered show animal, you'll immediately notice a difference in type and proportions. (I personally hate the registered pygmy 'type'. Ick, can you say kidding problems?)

Here is a doe sold to me as an 'unregistered pygmy' doe : At what age - Goats
