If she's in estrus, then she can be bred, but you can't really control when she goes into estrus. Normally it will be in the fall but it could be at any time. Some does, if they lose a kid, will immediately go back into estrus after giving birth. If she's in a herd with other does then they will normally go into estrus all about the same time, though occasionally they do get "out of cycle" for various reasons.

So if she's in estrus and wanting to be bred, you can breed her, but if you're asking just because you think it'd be neat to have her pregnant through the summer months and she isn't in estrus then you're out of luck.

right now i have four stinking bucks in rut, sticky and smelly and singing to the girls.
some does are due to kid in two week, four weeks and one in six weeks.
all are purebred nubians.
i visited another nubian breeder this week and her bucks where kinda smelly too and at least one doe was in heat.
i think swiss breeds are more difficult to bred in summer, but nubians, boers and lamancha can be bred any time during the year.

I've read that some nubians can be bred year round and some can't.. The farm that I've been working at part time, none of her bucks are in rut.. If you would like milk year round, you could always try kinders.. They breed year round because of the pygmy background..

All my Boers have been out of breeding since March!
My Alpine/Boer also has been out of cycle.

I guess my goats are very seasonable.

The only ones here who go all year are the pygmies of course.

Oh and we even butcher a Boer, 2 yr old buck, in May.
He wasnt bucky at all. He even tasted like a doe.

And heats this time of the year don't mean the doe is ovulating. Ovulation has alot to do with kids in 5 months We will have our first true heats in July. Vicki

I was just wondering since these does kidded in April and May, I do not want any surprises, but thought some fall kids would work for the December market. I sold one nubX Boer doe and he has her rebreed already? So I am assuming the buck is working the ladies. Does any body here kid 3x every 2 years?
