Quick question about Hoegger's udder wash

I got some iodine udder wash from Hoegger's today. It says to dilute 1 oz. in 4 gallons. How do I use it... dip a washcloth into the diluted solution and use it like that? It won't stain my hands, will it? (I've been using warm, slightly soapy water prior to this... and of course, teat dip afterwards).

Also, I know there are women who like to make their own baby wipes with a roll of paper towels and some baby oil or something like that. Can I use this iodine udder wash like that? Just pour some into a sturdy ziploc bag with some paper towels, and use it like udder wipes?

Trust me 1oz of it in 4 gallons of water WILL NOT stain your hands. Just take a towel dip it in the udder wash, & well wash.

First you need to make sure that your dilution is at least 200ppm. My udder wash which I got at Tractor Supply said 1oz per 3 gallons but that wasn't enough so I upped it to 1 oz per gallon to get the right dilution. Even at that dilution I haven't had any staining...I'm not sure about the soaking of wipes with it because I'm not sure of the efficacy of the iodine after being exposed to air etc.

I use a squeeze bottle with pop up lid that I got at Walmart - it's used for water. I just put the diluted wash in it and squeeze some out onto a paper towel and wipe - that way the solution isn't contaminated with dipping towels into it. I also use udder wipes after the iodine solution.

I do it this way because I was lucky enough to visit with a DVM who also has a Grade A for retail Goat milk dairy and she showed me her system. Very, very nice lady!

I have my udder wash in a spray bottle and just spray it directly on the udder and then wipe it off with paper towels it works great for me.
