What would you do?

I recently purchased 2 Laboer does, half sisters out of different breedings, One was born in March and the just turned a year. When I first brought them home, I quarintined them and had the yearling tested, for CL and CAE. She came back negative for CL, but positive for CAE. I called the breeder and he said that it was wierd because the mother was tested negative, So I redrew the blood and had another test ran, Well I got the test results back today and she is not negative for CAE!, What would you do? Have her retested again? Can I let them out with the other goats? Should I make another pen for them to move about in? Or should I get rid of them?

Thanks
Adam

do you have more goats on your place? are they all tested negative? when was the last test?
if all negative you might want to ask the breeder if he had his herd tested and ask him to see the test result.
i would not let the positive doe run with the negative. i would want my money back.

Well I got the test results back today and she is not negative for CAE!,
.........................

Do you mean she tested positive again or "she is now negative for CAE"

if the first I would take both goats back.

If the second and she is now negative I would call the lab. See if they keep records and what was her titer level. Perhaps the first one was positive just above borderline, the second time with less stress being there longer it was right below borderline. Also who ran the test and was it AGID or Elissa? vicki

Sorry, What I ment to say was that she now tested negaive for CAE. Should I even take the chance? When I drew the blood the first time, It was right after they took a 4 hour truck ride in a box. could that have done anything to effect the blood? Do you think I should just let the breeder have them back?

If she comes back negative again, Do you think it would be safe to let her enter in to the whole herd? Or do you think I should just cull these girls?
