wwyd? when to remove companion kid

We have 2 long-term keeper does, ages 3 yrs & 8 yrs, and just got a new doeling, 3months old. We also have a little buckling, 3 months old, who is moving to a friend's house for permanent keeping. The question is when to move the buckling?

The new doeling arrived on Thursday and is doing well. The older does, a mother & daughter pair, were pretty cranky with the new one at first but are acknowledging and admitting her into the goat party a bit now. The doeling and the buckling are constant companions.

So - move the buckling out tomorrow? or next week? He needs to go soon so we don't have early surprises. But I'd like to have the new doeling have her companion if it helps her fit in.

if it matters, the buckling is a pure nubian. The new doeling is 75 % alpine/25% nubian. The eldest doe and her 3 yr daughter are both saanen/toggenberg.

Well, seeing as how bucklings are well into breeding ability by 3 months, I'd say prepare for kids in a few months. It's not 100% sure that he got any of them, but at this point it's possible, even the new doeling.

Why not just castrate him and keep himas a companion for a bit, then eat 'em? solve all problems.

I looked at the calendar again - the buckling is really only 9 weeks old.

Like Dona said - even if he's only 9 weeks - he may have gotten at least the new doeling.

Move him today - if you really don't want babies that quick!

My doeling got caught at 2 months old. You don't want the worry!
