New Alpine Kids!
My FF French Alpine kidded this morning with twin doelings!
firstborn is a Cou Blanc, secondborn is a black and cream sundgau with a white splash on her face. (At least, that's what I think you'd call her color - it's rather odd) Their dam has a beautiful udder, and is taking to the milkstand excellently. Can't wait to see how she produces on a normal schedule tomorrow, as I milked her after she kidded around 11:30 this AM, and then again at 7 pm.
It's going to be hard not to keep one of these girls. I told myself that I would sell all the doelings out of my FF this year, but I may end up keeping the better of these girls for my herd. If I do, that will make two 2nd fresheners and 4 FF next year... *sigh* I'll probably retain them till they're about a month or two old, then decide...
Here is their PEDIGREE.

Cute! Now I'm convinced that my saanen gave birth to an alpine kid this morning LOL. I was told she has a little alpine mix in her, but she looks pure saanen. Here's the thread where I posted her pic http://homesteadingtoday.com/showthread.php?t=252716

Oh, and Jill, do you think the sire of that saanen or alpine kid could have had color genes? Was he a sable? related to sables? Maybe your baby is a Sable? I've been looking for a Sable buck in Michigan to breed some Saanens to.... one has a little black dot on her shoulder and another is a teeny bit Boer. So I might possibly get some Sable or colored kids, assuming I could find a buck! The only one I can find near me is in northern Ohio, and thats still way too far.
anyway.... not related to this thread, sorry! Congrats again on those sweet alpines!

Beautiful kids! That first picture is really funny, is that one of your mini kids cowering from the Alpine doeling? And great pedigrees as well.

Haha, I never noticed the look on her face, lol. Yes, that is a mini kid, born the day before these two girlies arrived.
