Did I Really See What I Think I Did?

I'm pretty sure I saw my 1 week old buckling mounting his twin sister? I don't want to separate my babies from their mommies, but I can't have this happening right now. Has anyone else ever seen things happen THIS early?

I've heard of a 6 week old buck impregnating an older doe when he was placed upon a hay bale to get the service done. Any younger than that...No, I have never heard of it. Biologically possible... at one week, probably not. ??? IMO

Don't worry. At this point in time, it's just "play". That's what little boy goats do. I'd separate him by eight weeks though, just to be on the safe side.

They are just playing, the penis is still attached to the body untill about 6 weeks. This playing breaks it from the body and after that he may be able to breed. Is he worth it as a buck? If not put a band on him and watch im grow.

I plan to band him...just wanted to wait 2-3 weeks before doing so.

My buckling (2 weeks old) was castrated on Monday and he'll do that sometimes.

Of course, my spayed female dog does that to my neutered male dog all the time... can't figure that one out...

I keep my intact bucklings in with all the does, nursing momma until I see their first erection - then they're OUT no matter the age. I've heard of 4 week old doelings getting pregnant and I'm not wanting that here, lol.

I have been told it is a dominance thing.

I have all doelings and they do that to each other all the time.

I also have a little girl Maltese dog. She has done that to her teddy bear since we brought it home for her that first week.

Maltese are white but the Family calls her the black widow as she will ride the teddy bear and then attack it, growling and shaking it for all she is worth and then sling it across the room.
She does this every time. it must be a dominance thing in dogs too.

It is a common dominance display in dogs & in other animals as well. One of my does is consistently the "rider" and she is the more outgoing and pushy of the herd.

Cows will do it too. It's pretty funny to look out and see one heifer attempting to ride another.

When females do it to each other, the one getting the ride is usually in heat. I can tell when some of my less vocal does go into heat this way. Generally, the nt doe does the riding.

YIKES - my four week old triplets are all in together and the buckling regularly gets a ride on one of his sisters (and the other buckling ) Although I knew that the bucklings can be fertile at 6 weeks, I thought that the girls would be safe until they were older

Another puzzle to solve LOL
