I get to work on a goat farm!
This weekend I get to go to a local goat farm and work part time.. I get to learn all things about keeping and raising goats.. She says next weekend she'll show me how to feed, milk, and medicate goats.. I'm so excited.. Finally I get to learn hands on! She has 80-90 goats and she's not more than 40 minutes away from me..
My mother doesn't get my desire to raise/grow my own food.. She asked me why I can't just go to the grocery store.. I tried to explain it to her but it's like talking to a brick wall.. I even offered to bring her some cheese or butter once I get my own goats and learn how to make it.. She said no, she'll get hers from the grocery store.. Was I switched in the hospital at birth?
I was offended at first but that's ok.. She's afraid of trying something new.. This is for me, my husband, and my kids.. She can have her store bought over processed foods with all kinds of additives and preservatives and who knows what else.. I'd rather get as much of my food as I can from my little piece of land.. The thought of being self sustaining makes me very happy..
Anyway, I just so excited about going to work with goats.. I just had to tell somebody.. But I have nobody here to tell that really understands.. My husband is happy that I'm so excited but isn't excited in quite the way I am.. He's just happy that I'm happy.. Doubt my inlaws will understand either, and they were raised on farms.. But it doesn't matter.. I get to work on a goat farm!
