What THE HECK is this!?

Okay and of course Lyric has to drive me even more nuts with first Lyrae acting like she was having the baby early to Lyric knocking her scur off, and now Lyric has a strange lump on her butt! What could this be? It doesn't feel hot, just hard. Doesn't seem to really bother her any.

This is her right side.

And as a side note she has really bad gas.

Looks like an abcess -- did you look at the link for CL and CAE in the stickies at the top of the goat forum page?

Isolate her if you can just as a procautionary measure until you find out what this is. Handle with care.

I really can't tell you what it is. But if CL, it is extremely contagious and NOT good. Could be something completely harmless though. So don't take a chance.

Actually I think it's a horsefly bite. There's been a bunch around lately. But I'll check on it anyways just to be cautious.

A horsefly bite would be wonderful compared to the other. Keep us posted.

By the way...Is she preg? Her tail is arched in that pic in such a way as to remind me of a doe in labor. LOL

I highly doubt it is CL right over the pin bone there. I would keep an eye on it and see if it changes or reduces. She could just have been butted and have a knot. Check to see if there's a sliver or a bite wound.

No she's not pregnant, she's one of my dry yearlings. But she is in heat.

I really think it's a bite or she got butted, I think it may have gone down a bit but I'm not sure.
