Question Does in Heat

My doe has been REALLY cranky and has been trying to kill my baby goat. She is usually the sweetest thing in the world. However it seems like there is only 1 week a month anymore that she is nice. She can't be in heat that often can she? Her backend is purplish and puffy. Like she would be ready for breeding. I think if we had a buck she would be pregnant. So how often do they go into heat? I also noticed this doe only drinks milk from my other doe when she is in heat. Anyone else ever experience odd behavior from their goats when they are in heat? I know its really odd for a yearlings ecspecially bottle baby ones to do this so this is really crazy.

What breed is she? Some breeds can go into heat every 21 days (or so I have heard).

I doubt it is heat related. They will only be in heat a day or two at a time, not weeks. An alpine/nubian wouldn't likely come into heat until fall anyway.

I believe Nubians can go back into heat anytime. Not sure though. I don't raise them.

Some nubians can breed year round.. Some don't.. Or so I've read.. Don't know what makes the difference..
