What breed are my new goats?

I just got these "brush" goats a few weeks ago, 4 does, 1 buck, 4 bucklings and one little doeling. I was told these two have some dairy blood in them, the buck is supposed to be half Alpine? No idea about the doe, but dairy of some sort and some degree. The rest of the herd are Boer mixes of some sort. Is this a nice buck to try to breed more dairy into my herd with? Thanks!

To me, it looks like your buck has a bit of alpine in him, the coloring, stiped face, and ears give that away.

Your doe Sabie is a boer cross of sorts. She definitely has boer in her, but the funny curls at the tip of her horns, and the way her ears stick out to the side prove that she is a cross. A cross of what? Who knows. Pretty goats! good luck with them!

Maybe the doe is a Nubian cross?

I'd say there is alpine in both, probably more in the buck. If you could see his mother's udder that would give yo a good idea if you want him for breeding for milking quality.

I'm no expert of course, but they both look like they could be some mixture of Boer and Alpine.

Well, this may sound strange, but at first glance your buck looks like angora-ish. But they are very curly and he is not, so that does not work. (some of my pygoras have ears like that too, but pygora is angora / pygmy.) But the way his ears are looks very similar to angora, which is down, but very defferent from nubian or boer ears. hehe. It's fun trying to guess breeds, lol.

we had alot of animals like this back home in kansas and they were just Spanish or Spanish boer mix, he is deffinatly not boer of any quality, the does may have more boer blood than him, its POSSIBLE that he could have some alpine in there but i doubt it, that color combo is common in alot of mix breed range goats,

there is not a strong Boer or Nubian influence in these animals as they dont have anything close to a roman nose, there are LOTS of floppy eard goats out there with out any of these breeds in them anyway,

if you just wanting to breed he will do just fine, if your wanting to improve for meat i would get a Boer or Kiko buck of the best you can find, if you want to put more dairy into your stock i would get your choice of Dairy stock, this buck wont improve your herd in anyway other than increasing its numbers.
