Fencing question..

I have almost 2 acres to fence in.. I plan to use field fencing and t-posts.. What would be the best spacing for the field fence? 6 feet or is 8 feet adequate?

If your corners are STRONG, and you stretch the fence TIGHT, you could go 10 ft with the T posts. That's assuming its fairly straight and level.

I use telephone poles at least 8" in diameter, 8 ft long, and put 4 ft in the ground. That way you wont need to brace it, but can still pull the fencing tight.

Well, I do plan on putting the corner posts in a cement footing.. But this will be mostly be me doing this with some help from DH.. No mechanical help, unless I can pull the wire with the riding mower somehow.. But the property isn't totally flat.. There is a slope on the north side of it that is probably 65 degrees or so in some spots.. But it's pretty level along the property lines where the fence will be going.. So that's a plus..

You may be able to rent a coffin hoist (hand operated winch) for about $10 to stretch the wire. Take 2 2x4's and put bolts through about every 2'. Take it apart and sandwich the wire between and rebolt tight. wrap a chain around each end and fasten the hoist to the center of the chain so it pulls straight.

You'll need a good anchor like a parked truck or a well set corner. You can put a nice stretch on the wire that way.
