If you want to be chasing goats all day, it is!
Add about 3, and it might be ok.....
or some hot wires.

Not usually. They'll probably try to go through it and hurt themselves bad, especially does with udders. I wouldnt do it!

If you dont know, better fencing includes hog/cattle panels, electric, tightly stretched woven with electric, and narrowly spaced board (which only works for some adults!).

No, it would not keep our neighbor's nasty, stinky, foul billy goat on their property, and neither would our 4-strand electric tape fence keep him off our property.

No way! It would only cause injured goats running wild. Even electrified it wouldn't be enough.

No. Barbed wire won't keep goats in at all.

We had seven strands of hot wire and couldn't keep a miniature goat in.

We how have electric net fencing.

Edited to add:

I was trying to think of what three strands of barbed wire *would* keep in. I think the answer is .......

.......grass.

We have chain link in small areas and HC in large areas...all with electric tape.

No barbed wire...ever.

The only fencing that has worked for keeping our goats in are cattle panels.

I think you'll be chasing goats as well as "chasingdreams".

Goats will slip through any small holes they can, including through the layers of barbed wire, which will bend when they slip through. I wouldn't want to have to deal with those kinds of injuries that are bound to happen.

You can buy woven wire pretty cheaply, for under $100 a roll. A way better investment when you consider how many less injuries you will be dealing with.

I watched one of mine step through the only fence left with barbed wire on today....it is 5 strands barbed, but quite loose...stops the sheep but not cheeky Toggenburgs.
