Bottle baby help

Hello

I'm new to this forum but have been reading here for some time. We picked up 2 does yesterday and my girls were given a 9 day old Nigerian Dwarf. He had been with his mother until now. Very healthy but much smaller than his twin. He's not too happy about the bottle but I have gotten him to drink. He's about 3.5-4 lbs. He will only take an ounce at a time. We are feeding whole cow milk. I'm not sure how often to offer the bottle. I don't want to over feed. Should I space out his bottles or try more often until he is drinking well? His poos are good right now but there are very few. His mom is up to date on her shots and worming. When should I start Cocci prevention? He goes outside with does for a little while(with supervision) and then comes back inside his pen. He was with these does at his home.

Thank you
Susan

At nine days of age he should be getting the bottle 4x per day, and as a mini he should be getting about 6-8 oz.

To get him to eat, sit on the floor and restrain him with your legs. Then, cover his eyes/forehead so he looks up (like he's looking for a teat) force in the teat and squeeze a little so he has to swallow the milk in his mouth - normally a kid will begin to nurse as a natural reaction. Keep your hand over his eyes for a few minutes, then uncover them so he gets used to eating without the cover. If he drops the bottle, repeat the procedure.

He doesn't need cocci until about 3 weeks old.

I bottle feed Pygmy goats all the time. At 9 days of age he would be on 2 bottles a day here. I let them eat all they want up to 10 ounces at a time. The most mine get is 10 ounces twice a day. That's half what I give full size breed.
