CAE question

Could someone please tell me how long CAE can survive once out side of a goat. I have an outdoor pen that CAE positive goats have been in, in the past but now have a negative buckling that I want in my old pen and I want to know that it is all the way safe for him to be in the old pen. I am on my way to a negative herd and I do not want to make a mistake by just assuming it is safe. So what I am asking is how long should I wait between having a positive goat in an outside pen before I let a negative goat in the same pen. Thank you so much for your help. A@VT

I believe it can only be transmitted through wet stuff, iykwim. Slobber, milk and other body fluids. I wouldn't hesitate to put a neg animal in a clean dry pen where pos animals have been in the past.

Outside of the goat, no more than a few hours I believe. I have a neg. buck in an iso pen that held my positive does before I butchered them, no worries.

not even hours, more like minutes if the fluid is dried up.
