Goat Rash

I just noticed today that one of my pregnant does has a rash on her vulva. It is swollen and there are red and yellow blotches. She would prefer that I don't touch it and she is holding her tail at half mast to keep it from touching it, I think. She is otherwise healthy, as far as I can tell.

The batteries in my camera are dead, but I'll try to get some tomorrow and take a picture. In the meantime, any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

owie! Sounds very sore. I'm wondering if maybe a little Desitin would help. I wonder how she got that...poor thing

Staph???? This time of year, most red rashes on exposed skin is staph. Warm wet weather is perfect for it to develop.

Desitin might help but it would also cover up too much for me. Neosporin has come out with a spray, which may help.

If it is staph, which sounds like it from your description, you should not use any type of cream or oily substance. You'll need to use Chlorahexadine on it which is a liquid. I bought mine from our feed store.

I keep forgetting to update this thread.

I don't like using synthetic chemicals, so I think generally I wait a day or two longer than most people to start treating something. The day after I posted my question, the rash wasn't any worse, so I just kept watching it. Two days later it was gone.
