Two more boys...

How long does it take for a ND to finish delivering. My ND had two boys at 9:00am this morning. It is now 10:55am. She is still laying down and getting up. She has not delivered the placenta and she is still huge! She looks like she could have 2 or 3 more in there. She is not acting like she is sick or in pain. She has licked them and they are up and nursing as long as she is standing. Could there be more or is she likely done? She still looks bigger than my other goat that had 3. Once the triplets were born the mother looked like a starving board. Any answers? Thanks, Stacey

Can you bounce her? Sort of grip her around the middle in front of the udder (grasp your hands together there) and gently but quickly bump up. If there are babies in there still, you will feel them thud on your hands. If she's empty, then you will just feel some soft goat belly =0). Someone else might be able to describe how to do this better than I just did, though.

I've had does freshen and look skinny as rails afterwards and I've had them freshen and stay looking pregnant, lol- I think each doe is different. Our alpine freshened a couple of weeks ago and my kids keep asking if I'm sure she's not still pregnant, lol.

There's no more in there. Thanks, it worked and I am relieved that I can walk away now. Everyone is doing fine. I will put pictures up tomorrow if my third doesn't have her's between now and then. I'd like a breather anyway.

Has she had any more or passed the afterbirth?
Ditto on what momtoseven said I've had doe's look skinny afterward & some look like they still needed to deliver. All different just like people I guess.
Don't forget the pictures!
