Mohair & Motor Oil

My angoras seem to like to crawl around under my Dodge diesel truck. UNfortunately, said truck is a exxon valdeze wannabe and always has dirty motor oil dripping off it. You can imagine the result - my freshly shorn (luckily) angora goats are covered in grime. If I can keep them out from under the truck from now on, will the grease come off in time for the next shearing, or should I take them all down to the skin right now? Or maybe bath them in detergent?
Their hair is probably an inch or so right now.

Well, it would eventually wear off but how long depends on how bad it is and if there is enough that the animals body will be absorbing that toxin. Oil is toxic.
So you can shear, bath or both. Your choice. Just make sure anything you use is safe for goats.

And as for the future, a well built goat pen works.

Blue dawn dish soap will get the motor oil off, but will strip the natural oil too. I'd still bath them with it and rinse a LOT, then use baby conditioner.

Unless the truck is just a lawn ornament, keep the goats away. They will chew all the wires. If it is an ornament... drain the fluids and dispose of properly. Yes wash the goats with dawn.
