sore inbetween toes

My friends 8 week old goat has a large seeping smelly protruding sore between his toes, just above the hoof. Any ideas what this could be and how to treat it? Closest thing we found was strawberry hoof rot. He is exposed to horses, and mostly in the house (bottle baby). He was stressed out by his banding a couple weeks ago, and urinated what looked like blood one time last week after it. She is calling the vet, but he is not available now, and she is very worried about her baby. He acts pretty normal, he is a wimpy type guy anyways and does stress easily.

Is the sore on the actual hoof or on the skin above the hoof?

Sore b/n toes

Is this sore right where the hoof and leg join?
If so it is probably hoof rot. It can be treated with squirting 1cc of penicillan b/n the toes, making sure to cover the sore. Follow up with 2-3 cc of penicillan SQ. 3 days of this should clear him up.
I see a lot of that here and this is the treatment I follow.

he is getting penicillan now. Sounds like thats the treatment for most of what it could be anyway. It is were the hoof and leg meet, inbetween the toes, is quarter size, and is very puffy, probably protrudes 1/4 inch. looks like proud flesh, and bleeds easily when scrubbed. He does have some lingering orf too... I am sure it is something simple.

All I can tell you is that I used LA 200 on cattle with hoof rot.

La 200

Don't use LA 200 on young or pregnant goats! It can cause a ton of issues ranging from growth issues to birth defects. I stay completely away from it although I know lots of cattle people that swear by it, including my Dad.

You can also mix epson salt in with pine tar and put that on the hoof. It will help dry it and the pine tar is a natural anitseptic.

I saw him today. The penicillan and chlorhex washing has almost dried it up already. Suprising with how big it was. It really is just the skin above the hoof, now that the inflamation is down, you can tell better. Probably just an orf sore in a bad spot. Come to think of it, his upper palatte looked just like that when he first got it.
