Whoever said Goats don't like rain........LIED!!

So here we are, storms all over and around us. It's pouring rain like 40 days and 40 nights. Beth is taking a shower, and as the shower stops I hear "Ummm, Mom? I think the goats might be out........" At the back of the goat pen, where the water runs down the hill and makes every thing a constant mudslide, we had several fence posts FLATTENED, and a path of destruction equivalent to a major swarm of locusts, leading through the woods, around the pen and.......right up to the front porch! They had left one of the does UNDER the fence, waiting patiently for us to show up and rescue her. They finished up their mad salad chewing spree with a dessert of sweet feed. Luckily there wasn't much there, or we'd have some sick goats.

Before you ask, these goats have plenty to eat, browse, grains and otherwise. But you know it's always best on the other side!

We are sopping wet and so are the goats. We're mad because we're sopping wet, the goats are mad because they got caught!

We didn't lie... you just have WEIRD goats!

Ours think rain surely must be acid.... one drop and they hightail it for the barn, hollering all the way.

Mine won't even step with water or mud, unless they absolutely have to.

Were they raised without shelter? Our bucks don't have more than a tree for shelter and they don't mind rain.

Our goats have beautiful shelters. Nice and big and dry and well ventilated, everything is good. BUT will the goats go in if it is during the day and raining?? Nope they stand in the field and look up into the sky.. or lay under the trees. Silly goats. But they will NOT eat wet feed!!!

Well, I don't know how they lived before they came here, but they have a wonderful shelter here, and we've seen them hightail it inside when it rains, but not today! They'll make liars out of us every chance they get!

After our last snow melted, there was still a shady spot in front of the barn door that had snow. Our ND doe wouldn't come out of the barn until I put straw on the snow in a trail to their yard gate. Geeeez! They train us pretty well, don't they?

To be honest I would probably do the same for mine.
