Late bagging up?

My nubian, Trisha, is supposed to be due may 8th. Now, being new to goats, I'm not always sure if something is normal or not. She , as far as I can tell is not bagged up...maybe only a tiny bit if at all, nothing like my alpine mix who kidded yesterday. She had a huge bag. Anyway, she might be a bit wider that I've noticed the past couple of day and she had some edema behind her fromt legs. I heard it could be pregnancy induced swelling...

So, anyone else have a doe that didn't show signs of pregnancy til the last minute? I ma saving some colostrun for my alpine just in case she kids and doesn't have milk right away.

THanks again all!

My Gretta (Pygmy) didn't bag up until right before delivery. It was the size of 1/2 a cantalope...then all of a sudden a real big cantalope! So I don't think you can really go by the size of the bag...she will just keep giving you these little signs that will drive you crazy

In my experience most of my doe's have always bag up just before giving birth like by a few days to within 24hrs. Try not to worry, she still has a few days.

one of my alpines in february never did bag up. I freaked out of course. I was milking her extra, plus the baby was nursing. by the end of the 2nd wek, she was giving maybe 30 ounces a day. I gave the baby extra milk from another source to be sure she was getting enough. It happens, be prepared.
