Yesterday it was so nice out. In the high 70's low 80's sunny and I was outside doing "chores" ( today freezing with snow!! ) I found my Blue Silkie, she went broody and had a great hiding place. I had to stalk her for 15 mins to find it and I had goat helpers on the case. Glad to finally see her after days.
Then a little while later I see 16 of the herd staring at something. They are not moving and just staring, so I walk around the house to see what it is and I almost stepped on a bull snake. I had a metal rake and a leaf rake handy but not my push broom which is great for snake catching. So I am trying to pin it's head and it keeps getting out between the tines. My Nubian wether is following me like " What ya doing? Can I go to? Huh huh can I??" So he follows me while I am trying to relocate the snake. I moved it away but never caught it.
So later I am doing work on the patio and the goats are about 300 or so feet away grazing and they all start racing towards me. This usually means that I need to protect them from something, but what?? Well it was one of those dust devils, like a mini tornado coming right at us. So as it got closer they were like " Heck with you aren't stopping it!!" They took off to the barn while I just managed to duck a piece of flying alum/tin siding that I am trying to build a coop out of. They I got hit with a tarp and was fighting that while they stared at me. I bet they were thinking " Haha stupid human you should have ran for it!

" I have to admit it must have been pretty funny.
Just when I thought my day was getting better the post office calls after they were closed to tell me they have my new order of chicks and they will answer the back door for another 20 mins. I live 15 from the p.o. and I have wood stain all over my hands and wearing "only around the farm pants"!

So I slapped my hair in a pony tail, changed my pants and hustled ( yes I did do some speeding) I made it just in time to grab the little boogers.
Well it sure made for an interesting day.
