Grass clippings

Hi all,

Is is safe to feed the grass from our lawn to the sheep and goats? We just bought a lawnmower with a bagger. We don't use any pesticides.

Thanks
Tamar

If you dump it out of the bagger before it gets hot, it will be ok. However it does not take very long for bagged grass to get hot and that would not be good for the goats.

We bag all our grass and put it in the compost pile for use in the garden the next year.

also don't just dump it in a big pile for them to eat unless you are sure they will eat it all right away. its amazing how fast it starts composting.

Are you positive than none of your yard plants are poisonous to goats?

Thanks all,

They all really enjoyed that treat!

Problem is...they want us to do it all over again now *grins*

Our yard and our "hay field" we bale up have the same grass and plants..this is our third summer here, nothing toxic to my knowledge.

Blessings
