copper/iron

I keep hearing that to much iron is no good. I have sweetlix minerals out, meatmaker. That is a red mineral but the only one I can find with the high amount of copper. Label says 1750ppm and iron is 1.75%
Is that a good ratio?

That's what we are using too. Is that iron bad for them?

Too much iron can suppress copper absorption. As can zinc. Most mineral mixes for goats are balanced. What the problem ends up being - is those of us with too much zinc or iron in the water supply! Easiest to have your water or forage tested...

That's what my problem is too. Our water is extremely high in iron. 3 filters on our drinking system! So I tried the Sweet Lix Meat Maker - special ordered it from the mill. Have used 3 bags this year so far, and the girls don't seem to like it much, waste a bunch of it and the "red" of it hints at iron. I'm just about to run out, so gonna go back to the mill mix I was using, goat specific, and a gray mineral (with minimal salt in it) and see if they like eating that better. It had 1400ppm copper, so at least it's still somewhat high.
