Tatoo Ynumber order

Question for you all. When tatooing for ADGA, I understand the sequence of birth order for the number. For example left ear will be Y1 for my first born goat in 2008. But do you count the number birth order even for kids you are not going to register/tatoo? So like if I'm registering the doeling born first she would be Y1 but her buckling brother is not going to be registered, then the next birth would I tatoo that kid Y2 or Y3? Hopefully I'm not to confusing!

I just count the ones I'm going to register. But you can do it either way. ADGA doesn't really care about the numbering part just the Y part. Your choice.

coso is right- ADGA does not care about the tattoo numbers of the registered kids- just that their tattoos are unique.

Personally, I assign ALL kids a number on my management calendar. Kids keep that number when tattooed. For instance, if I have a doe kid, three taco-quality bucks, and then a doe kid, I will register the doelings Y01 and Y05.

There is no "wrong" way to do your tattoo sequence, as long as you are using your assigned herd tattoo and other ear has a tattoo you haven't used in 20 years.
