Need and answer soon, please. disbudding and tetanus shot

I have to disbud a kid tonight. He is already growing his horns.

This is a kid of the doe who I vaccinated for tetanus and enterotoxemia late in her pregnancy. I beleive it was about a week late. But she was 3 days overdue.

Do I have to vaccinate the kid immediately before disbudding to protect him from tetanus because his dam was vaccinated late? Or will the late due date have protected him?

This question goes for wethering, too.

If this could be answered tonight, that would be great! Tommorow, the horns will only be bigger.

How old is the little guy now? How long ago was it when momma had her tetanus shot? And also was it C,D & T you gave to mom or just the tetanus antitoxin?

He is one week and 2 days. Late, I know, but I couldnt get ahold of the disbudding iron till now. I dont own one, I rent or borrow.

She was given tetanus toxiod combined with clostidium perfringens types c and d. I think it was given to her 16 days ago or so.

Ok, you guys, thanks for the replies. I'm going out to disbud now, so the people who read this next, it's not so urgent anymore! Thanks, though!

I am going to give him a shot.

So the C,D & T is what mom was given right? Then yeah the shot is a good idea since your disbudding. If you don't get him banded tonight or for a few days or week, the C,D & T will cover that too. Usually I do the shots 3 weeks apart starting at 3 weeks. Boy them little bucks get their little horn growing soooo early don't they. Hope all went well.
