I have a shy doe

Red Riding Hood kidded Monday afternoon and had a nice big boy. When our girls kid, we lock them up in a small pen for the first day or so to give mom and kids a chance to bond. In watching RRH, we noticed she wasn't letting her kid nurse. She was very attentive, licking and talking to her kid, but when he tried to nurse, she would kick at him and step away. We held her still and let the little guy get a drink. We did this several times over the first day.
We finally noticed that RRH must be shy. If anyone is out in the barn or pasture, she won't let junior nurse. If we are up at the house and watching through the binoculars, she lets him has his fill. I guess she just needs her privacy.

Kid count - 5 bucklings, 3 doelings.

Huh, that is new to me. I have never seen this before, but then I haven't been doing goats forever either. I'm going to keep an eye on your post to see what people tell you.
