Electric Tape for goats?

I'm thinking of making some temporary fencing using either Electric Tape or Electric Rope and the step in posts, and of course an adequate fence charger.

Would the goats respect this type of fencing?

I've tried using the standard wire on a temporary fence before and all it did was sag and short out, and my neighbor uses the rope and my SIL uses the tape for their horses and it works fine for them.

I use electric rope for all my pasture needs. I'm not sure what step in posts are. I use t-posts. They all respect the fence now. I did have a little doeling that was good at getting under, over and through it at first, but she has stopped now. Maybe she grew to big to shimmy out?

We use the multiple strand, step in post type from premier to make extra pastures for our boers after we do our first cut hay. They respect it until they run out of grass then they sometimes will walk over it. We move ours every night and just let them in for a couple of hours to graze it down. If you have lots to eat they won't bother the fence.

I have step-in posts and 4 stands of 1/2" electric tape for my buck pen and he stays in. (I love step-in posts for sectioning!!!) If I were to do it over, I'd go with 1" though. I have had a doe go through to see him! Another thing, if your fence charger is pretty hot, it'll melt the plastic over time and you'll have weak or dead spots in the fence, go with a milder charger for that fence.

Thanks Y'All.

I thought it might work, I just know the goats tend to be tougher on fences than my sheep (they already broke through the Chainlink pen 3 times).

And since I don't have the time or money to put in all the cross fencing I would like (looking to divide 3.5 acres into 1/2 acre paddocks with a total of 7 12' gates, for rotational grazing) at this time, this will be a huge help. Who knows I may make it more of a permenant way of fencing off the paddocks, in order to give me more flexiblilty in moving the livestock around.
