I think the real hairy ones are adorable! The ones with heavy coats and bangs remind me of powderpuff Chinese Crested dogs. Very cute.

They looked like dogs to me too.
I'm wondering what their use is? Spin that long hair maybe? I'm not a spinner (yet) and we can't/won't afford to feed just cute on our farm, so I guess I don't get any silkies.

Well, according to the information they're supposed to look like Silky dogs, a dog similar to the Yorkshire Terrier.. I think they're just for pets though..

And they are fainters? Can you imagine them fainting into a pile of leaves then having to brush it out? They really are cute though.

Halo
When I originally inquired, the breeder said no - it is like horse hair. They don't all faint - and they don't really have much use other than looking cute! A lot of them are crosses between Nigerians and Fainters...although they don't have to be crosses to be registered.

In fact, any of the real spinning fiber that fainters have (cashmere) is extremely discouraged in the mini silkies.

Some of my friends are into the mini Fainters with long hair, and they also cross register them with msfga.

If you want some meat structure, investment wise it's better to go with purebred fainters ;-) They come in long hair too, and a good majority of them would fit in the mini silky conformation requirements ;-) Cheaper too!
