Talking The wait is over

Alana finally kidded this morning, at 11:15 am. I almost missed it!

I did chores this morning, and checked on her. She was reluctant to get up for hay, but did get up for her grain, then lay down again, so I kind of wondered if this was the day.

I decided to go check on her just after 11. As I was walking out to the barn, I heard an unfamiliar "baby" voice, so I ran in. There was a baby's head sticking out just to the ears, hollering to beat the band! The front hooves were right there, so I gently pulled on one and then the other to help ease the shoulders out. After that the kid slipped right out.

It's a girl! Typical Saanen cross - all white.

I'll post pics later.

Well, I took some pictures but Photobucket (or my computer ) is being stupid and won't load properly.

I think the doeling is polled! The hair on her forehead is quite straight and she's got the cutest little widow's peak hairdo.

I'll have to milk out mama tonight - baby has drained one side of her udder but not the other.

She's already figured it out - the doe was nice and even this morning. I'll still keep milking her out just to get her production up.

pooks, I tried to search for pics you've taken of the new arrivals, I guess you didn't get photobucket to cooperate?

Now I'm not so sure about Bambi here, maybe she is due for May (not June) after all. Her udder is getting full. Crikey, I wish I hadn't re-bred her, but she did look act she was in heat a few weeks after the 1st breeding. Hmmmmm.......
