Question Wether with Dairy Does?

Does castration before weaning keep a wether from smelling "buckish"? Enough so that a wether can be kept with the does without tainting the milk.

My boys don't smell any different than the girls. One was actually wethered pretty late too.

Wonderful! Thank you for the reply.

I'm planning to bottle raise a doe, and the seller offered me the buckling twin as well. I thought, "no problem!" Then I started to worry... My primary goal with goats is to have milk for the children & myself. I was afraid that even a wether could cause the milk to get an off taste.

I really appreciate your response!

After castration at any age, a buck looses it's scent gland smell.... However, if castrated after mature, it may still pee on it's face. If castrated young, it'll never learn 'bucky' behaviors and will act/smell just like a doe. Plus, you can teach it to pull a cart for your children.
