Have you examined her internally?
Is anything showing?
It sounds like there may still be a kid in there. Unless she is working on trying to pass the placenta (looks like a pizza with pepperonis on it).
But if she is down and straining really hard it could easily be another kid not presented correctly.

I examined her a little I'm kinda leary. It seemed like my hand could not get in but I didn't try hard. She passed a whole lot of after birth which hung on until about 5pm. I just checked on her and her backend vulva? is hanging way out

Pushing for 5 hours? Something sounds wrong there, might be another kid in there. I know it makes folks squeamish because they are afraid of hurting them, but if its still goin on your gonna have to reach in and see whats goin on. You may have to help reposition the kid. Go here and look, if you haven't already. http://fiascofarm.com/goats/index.htm

If she passed the afterbirth then she probly doesn't have any more kids in their. I sure wish I knew what to tell you to do other than I would probly call the vet at this point. I sure wish you & your little doe Luck! Let us know how things go.
Hopefully someone with more experience in this area will step in here soon.

She needs calcuim and probally some oxitocin . Start with the cmpk. There is a homemade version on goatkeeping 101 at
dairygoatinfo.com

any other meds you will need a Vet for.

Call a vet or a very experienced goat owner by you. She could still have nother baby in there as there are times when there is more than one placenta. if she has anoher problem she may need help or you will lose her. 5 hrs is WAY too long. I agree about giving the CMPK while you are trying to contact someone to look at the doe.

Ive been in up to my elbow and still not been able to reach the back horns of he uterus in a full grown doe. You dont mention what kind of animal this is. In a mini that might be normal, and the cervix might feel tight in them, I dont know becasue Ive never done an internal on a mini. Take a rectal temp on the doe, and if its low, you can be sure its calcium and energy she needs. Do you have any injectible meds at all?

no more oxitocin please. this would only encourage more contractions. not what you want right now. is she bleeding a lot? she might has an uterine tear that makes her pushing.
yes on the cmpk. this will give her some energy.

She would be bleeding with a uterine tear, each push. Is she? She likely has a rip on her cervic, the little piece of tear keeps repositioning on the inside of the cervic, she then urges to push it out. Banamine will take the edge off. It's vet time if you don't have it. I would look at how much blood she is passing by looking at her eye and mouth membranes. Weakend from pushing or is she loosing blood internally? Vicki

thank you everyone for your advise. We lost her. If we had of stayed home yesterday we might have been able save her due to the time. I don't know of any vet around here that is available after 6. Her bucklings are doing fine so far. We named them Thunder and Lighting they are living in our garden tub for now so we can watch them. Thank you again.
