Something's wrong with Baby Doeling's eye

I just went to take care of the goats for the evening & 1 of the doelings that was born this past Thursday has a little white stuff by 1 of her eyes. It was not like this in the A.M. & no other goat has ever had an eye problem here so wasn't quite sure what to do. It looks like it might be watering a little bit. I think she has probly scratched it on the hay or straw.
My question is can I wash it out with sterile saline solution then I have triple ant. oint. for the eye & also Gentamicin Sulfate(Antibiotic drops) both are for the eye & they were for my dog when she scratched her eye. My vet is closed for the night so can I try 1 of these in her eye & which would be better? I want to do it while it's still light outside so I can see plus eye's can become infected so fast from a scratch I know so I want to do something tonight.

I am not sure about the eye drops.I used an ointment on my goats.Check her lower eye lid and see if it is turned under a bit. I had one last year with this. I kept it rolled out and use the terrimycin(sp) eye ointment 3 times a day .

One of my doelings eye was pink and blind. The triple antibiotic in the eye is doing the trick. After 4 days, it is almost gone. Wish I had notice sooner, kidding time and all.

No, Her eyelid look normal other than the white discharge. the eye is not discolored or cloudy either that's why I think she has scratched it.
When my jack russell scratched her eye he gave me the ointment & the drops to use both daily. the ointment at night & the drops during the day. I was only going to use one of them on the little doe but didn't want them to hurt her.
How do you get the ointment in the eye? Just along the lower lid or do you try to pull the lower lid out a bit & put it in the little pocket? These are ND babies so they are tiny teeny 4 days old.

I tried to pull the lower lid out a bit but it usually just ended up along the lower lid.It was a 2person job on squigley boer kids.Might be harder on tiny ND's.Worked like a charm though.

Thanks Chris, Yeah DH will hold her for me. Last night I used the drop because the ointment didn't look like it would stay on the eye.
I know when I gave these to my dog the vet had me do the drops during the day & the ointment at night.
Should I probly just use the ointment a.m. & p.m.?
