What a birthing day!!!! PICS!!!

We have babies FINALLY! Happened earlier today... I'm just now resting and doing internet stuff.

Gracie had triplets... but sadly the last one (a buckling) was DOA. Being the newbie I was... I freaked out and cried because we couldn't get him out of Gracie. We didn't know he was dead at that point.. but I had a feeling. Emily came and saved the day!!! She was able to get the baby out.. and reassured us that he had been dead for a while and not anything we did.
I'm just so thankful that Gracie and the first two made it safely and no one else was lost!!!!
Here's pics of my new (and alive) doeling and buckling (50% LaMancha, 25%Alpine, 25% Nubian) ... buckling is available.
I really REALLY like their colors!!!! Oh and SPECIAL THANK YOUS to Emily!!!!!!

buckling right as birth

Aw they're beautiful. I'm sorry too for your loss. Things happen sometimes that are totally beyond our control. Thank goodness Emily was close enough to rush over and help out. It's sad and disheartening to lose a kid, but losing the mom is even harder. Emily you are a blessing, and wonderful kind soul.

They are just as cute as I remember!
When Cricket called she described a two feet presentation with no head. She couldn't find the head to bring it around. I got there and found it was a little more complicated than that. There were 4 feet presenting in the canal and everything was very flaccid. Felt there was something wrong right away. The neck was stretched back along the side and the head was tucked under the belly. Thought at first there might be two more kids in there but it turned out the feet were all connected to the same dead kid. Being dead there was no muscle tone whatsoever and nothing would cooperate. We did get him out though after about 5-10 minutes and it was obvious he had been dead at least 24 hours. Dead kids frequently do not present properly. He was extremely limp and his eyes were clouded over. We were all glad to see it was a buckling!
It was not a nice presentation for a newbie goater to have to handle on their first birthing.....but it turned out ok.
