cocci prevention for weaned kids

We have some kids that are getting close to being weaned from their bottles.

Their replacer has a med. in it for cocci prevention. So....once they are weaned do we need to do something else for a preventative----or once they are that old are they o.k. unless they show symptoms?

They are kept separated from any adults.

Thanks,

Dee

We keep them going for a little while past weaning, just to be sure.

You can use DiMethox or another similar product as a drench. Or you can use medicated feed...this year we are letting kids eat "meat goat" pellets ,which contain Decox, for cocci prevention.

I have medicated feed out for my four week old all the time but I don't think she eats any of it. I know she CAN eat it because I watched her pig out on some alfalfa pellets.
