My turn on goat watch!

Gracie, my 1/2 Alpine, 1/2 Nubian first due date is tomorrow, the 27th. 2nd due date is April 3rd. Bred to Ozark Jewel's LaMancha buck, "Bregas Phantom Wind".

Can you see the baby sticking out her side?

Well.. she's been falling asleep in a sitting position... she looks miserable constantly. Her ligaments are longer by 2 inches than just last week. Not that soft yet though... more than they were.. but not mooshy or anything. Her UGH... *my forgotten terminology here* Her vulva? the opening, has gotten a bit larger too.. looks slightly swollen. No goop or strings or anything like that yet.
I did see her push her head against the wall and stand there for a bit... but I only saw her doing that once.

My husband has unexpected surgery tomorrow... and I'm hoping she either waits a couple of days, or goes tonight. UGH...

oh jeez! You have your hands full...do you know anybody close by that can keep an eye on her while you are gone tomorrow??? Gretta was doing the pushing her head on the wall and digging digging digging for about 8 hours or so before she delivered. She didn't have any goo to speak of until she layed down and started pushing. I hope your hubby is ok...

Thanks!!! ^_^ Hubby is getting ankle surgery... about 8 years ago.. he broke it and had to have screws put in. He broke it again at work due to a bone spur limiting his range of motion, and stepping off the stairs wrong. UGH! So they are going to go in and take off all of the bone spurs. Not fun... but I think he'll be ok... heck, he may be even better afterwards!!!

(back to Gracie)... I think she may have them tonight... but I don't know anything about goats having babies... as she is my first one! Rabbits, yes, Goats.. NO!
I checked her ligaments (not that I REALLY know what I'm feeling for) and they were now tight?! Seemed longer again, and she is getting up and down, up and down.

Fun night for me tonight!!! EMILY!!!!!

I'll take some more pictures...

No expert here, but I'd say - SOON. This is not her first freshening, is it? Hope she times it right for you and hubby. I'll bet you get some gorgeous babies! Please keep us posted. Good Luck,

NeHi

LOL@tennesseeMama23. You know, I think that title could apply to just about any of us, and at this time of year, it appears for all the world to outsiders (I would imagine) that our particular visual 'turn on' is quite... um... impolite.

Ugh, sorry all for the suspense!

We just got back, and I 'just' finished chores *off schedule of course*! I was SOOOO stressed over the surgery, and over missing the births! I would cry if I missed my first pregnant goat's delivery!

Hubby is, thankfully, doing great! He's really "zoned out"... but he's doing good! ^_^

The doc says that he should have full range of motion in his ankle again after 8 years!!! So that was good news!!!

No babies yet!!!! YEAHHHH!!! She waited for me!!!! *heee* Today is her actual due date.

I "think" this is Gracie's second freshening. We bought her and her daughter (then 2-3 months old) about a year ago. I was told that she had triplets, and only the daughter was left after the others were sold.

Gracie and I went through some tough times getting to know one another... especially when I was first learning to milk last year. I go back and forth at times with her... but I think I've grown rather fond of her. ^_^

LOL! Funny... about my title to this post... I didn't realize it looked that way!!!! UGH! heheheeee

Thank you all soooOOOO much! I'm still up on goat watch... maybe tonight!

Thanks! It means a lot to me to have responses and be able to share this new experience of mine with someone else! ^_^

Gracie's doing her sit on her butt, and up and down thing... I guess she's been like this all day too. Tonight, she's breathing more heavy... I wish this pain to be over soon for her.
I really can not tell if ligaments have changed, and everything looks pretty much the same as the above pics. Hmmmm...
I've been coming in and out of the house... should I just put the kids to bed early, and go camp out there with her?

Yup, I bet tonight!! Probly as soon as you go to bed, hehehe! If it's warm enough there I'd probly camp out there with Gracie. I'm always a worry wart anyways!
Every time I see you've posted a reply I have to check it out because I think "yup, she must have had the kids" then I check, not yet.......sigh.......

I didn't sleep for almost a full week last week but that was because I had 8 all due at once. Six done, one is probably going tonight and the last one looks like maybe next week.

What I found about the ligaments is that you don't feel any, all boney vertibra and the tail sticks up a bit, like she isn't able to put it down.

Glad she waited for you and your husband is fine.
Going out to check mine now too. Good luck.

Mine lost her plug...
