So sad.....my Molly died
I guess the stupid rain was too much. The shed floor got wet, and I guess she got too cold. Checked on her this morning, and gave her new hay she was acting cold. Went to town, gone bout 4 hours. Went to check on her, and she was gone. I am so heartbroken. We all are. We loved her so much, funny we only had her 2 weeks. She was so small and sweet. I miss her so much already.

I'm so sorry. I remember looking at the pictures of her that you posted last week. You took such good care of her.

I think she wasn't too well to begin with. I has given her a wormer, and had just bought some meds for her crusty eyes. Still doesn't make it hurt any less. DH says no more goats. DD8 misses her terribly. Would go streight to her and walk her everyday after school.

I'm sorry, it is always hard to lose one, no matter how long you've been in goats. Please don't let this experience put you off having goats. It's a given that you are going to lose them every now and then, and it's really hard when it's your first one. We lost our very first goat, which my daughter was very attached to. But now, three years later, we still have goats and enjoy it very much. It is hard work, and heart breaking at times. But I can tell you this, it is worth every minute of it!

this little baby doesn't look like she was well fed. a healthy baby goat, well nourished, is capable to control body temperature. what did you feed her when she was on your place? did she still get a bottle? she has the size of a not even four weeks old.

I was giving her a milk bottle, she had good hay, rabbit feed mixed with goat feed. She was jerked from her mama at the auction, that is why I bought her. Felt sorry for her. She was starting to eat here and had actually gained almost a pound in two weeks. I took very good care of her!!!!!!!! We loved her and miss her very much.

i have no doubt in my mind that you loved this little doe.
she needed more then a bottle of milk. she would have needed at least two, if not three bottles per day. my kids are gaining between 5 and 7 pound in two weeks. your kid was a boer mix and should have gained even more then that.rabbit food is not a good food for goats.
i do not try to beat you up, only make you aware what could have been the problem and this does not happen again. the auction is never a good place to buy a goat. in my opinion, goats that went to auctions should only go to meat packers and not as family pet.

I just don't appreciate being accused of starving her. I offered her a milk bottle several times a day, she usually took it three or four depending on what she wanted. When she wouldn't eat the goat feed, I came here and was told to try rabbit pelleets. I did, she started eating that so I mixed the goat feed with it. She started to eat more. I got her really good hay, she loved it. She had actually started to put a little weight on. Do I know that the auction isn't the best place to buy an animal....yes. Does that mean when I see one I felt was mistreated I should just walk awayand say OH WELL. I don't think so. Yes, you have made it worse....now she is not only gone, but you have accused me of not taking care of her. Thank you for making me cry again.
I want to thank everyone else who have been so supportive, not only in our loss but in helping me when I got her and she wouldn't eat.

i can not make it worse because this little kid already died. you don't need to like it but learn from it, that is all.

Sorry you lost her. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, there's nothing that can be done. I lost my first baby this year. After all the hundreds of babies I've had born on my place, loosing this first one hurt like crazy and left me with the "why"? syndrome in my head. Try not to let anyone get to you... some people are just that way. Dampness is hard on goats, 'specially kids.. and she was not at her tip-top when you got her. At least you gave her a chance! As much as it hurts, maybe in the future, you'll get another one. Hang in there!!

me too
I'm sorry for your loss as well. As you know, I just lost my little Maggie Moo too and I just am sick. I know how you feel. Its really depressing isn't it.
Mine had wonderful mother's care and she still left me. Some of them are just not meant to make it and I think we will just never know why. It just is a cold, hard fact.

Robyrich, I am so sorry. She was such a cutie. I would have rescued her from the auction, too. She was lucky to have had you in her short life.
Coming from the auction, though, she could very well have had issues that you might not have had much control over. You were here gathering information, and you did the best you could. You did just fine.

So sorry you lost her. Its even harder when our kids fall in love with them then lose them.
