Smile New kids! Finally...

Started late this year, so I am thrilled to say that we have two new doelings, born last week. They are cream with darker legs--I'll get photos up as soon as I get them onto the computer. They are so sweet. We decided what with family issues and all that to let them stay on Val and then seperate them at night and milk only in the a.m. in a week or so. No one here during school and work day to bottle feed as we used to. The doelings are a little less friendly than the others have always been, but so be it.

Did the disbudding this afternoon--I HATE that. Thankfully my son Drew, 13, learned from his daddy last kidding season how to do it, and since Sean passed last summer, Drew stepped up and handled it today. I did help so maybe I'll be able to do it myself one day--eecck! I have a tendency to close my eyes so once Maddie's kids are born, I better pay attention!

And we still have Jordy's 4H project in the utility room--24 black sex-linked chicks. 5 go to fair in August and rest will join our flock unless anyone out there in Middle TN wants some finished pullets come June! We'll sell them for $10 bucks each--a bargain with the price of eggs and feed heading upwards every day!

Hi Vanessa,

Glad to see you back. I am sorry about your dh. The babies we bought from you last year are doing great. Miss Maudie (Spice-her new name) is due to kid any day, she looks like she is about to pop, I'll try to get a pic posted of her so you can see how big she has gotten (I know how heartbroken your dd was to get rid of them ). Hope (Sugar) is a few weeks behind her--we didn't get a due date on her.

Melanie

Hey there Melanie--good to hear from you, and glad that the two ladies are well and ready to roll! How are your human kids doing--I think I remember through the haze of memory and general frazzle that you had a couple of lovely young girls...

I love pictures--can't wait to see them! We often talk about Hope --Sugar--especially, as Jordan was particularly fond of her. Take care--and keep in touch!

Here is a picture of the goat girls if I can get it to work. I just found out they have lice and treated them today--yuck. I had a hard time getting Hope to stand still and quit itching to get her picture taken-poor thing. The human girls have had a stomach virus and it has been no fun here. Let me know if you want to sell any more--I might like another one or two

It was not too long ago that I was ready to pull my hair out with these two.LOL. They kept getting out and getting into everything. Spice jumped into the front seat of my truck when I went out to get something out of it. She tortured us while we were building our new treehouse. The floor of it is between 11 and 12 feet tall and when we got the stairs finished she climbed up and was walking around on 6" tree limbs--almost gave me a heart attack. She snuck up on dh while he was chainsawing and scared the pee out of him-the human girls got such a kick out of that. Sugar (Hope) is the first one to climb on the minivan when she gets out. Who taught her that I wonder, hmmm--(Jordan???) Tell her they are happy and have lots of love from my girls here.

They have calmed down and do not get out any more--I guess it has been since before Christmas that they got out last, thank goodness.

Melanie--

Well, I'll be--Miss Maudie turned out to be more of a looker than Hope...sorry the human kids are sick. We have had one or two mild days of icky feeling but none of what I have heard is going on with the latest flu.

We will be selling at least one of the newest girls--I know I can send a pic via e-mail to you, so I'll do that.

John--thanks for your kind words--how's that son of yours--all my girls send their hellos, and Drew, too. Tell your mom I said hello, too.

Yep, MM is much prettier- Hope has got more of a problem with the lice--once the treatment kicks in I think she will stop scratching and her coat will look better. We have never had lice and I do not think I caught as quick as I should have.

She is about a month behind MM on her pregnancy. (I think I was editing while you were posting, so be sure you check and make sure you read about some of their escapades.
