Beneficial Insects

Has anyone used any beneficial insects to help with fly control? I was looking at some, but they were refered to as a wasp and that kinda made me cringe. However, I am willing to consider anything that keeps the flys down and doesn't involve chemicals.

Hi Christi!

I have used ( I think) what you are referring to if it's something you buy, have shipped in the mail on a monthly basis? If so, it's NOTHING to worry about! They ONLY eat the fly larva, have a very small "travel" area which is why you generally need to get quite a few of them. They are extremely small themselves.

I used them for only 1 yr. but got started way to late in the season for them to really do any good, aside from the fact I just hated to spend the $$ on them! But it's a good way to control the flies without using chemicals..and that I love!

I wonder when the right time is to start them. I was thinking late April or May.
