big score for milk jars at auction

Now that we have two goats in milk, I've been keeping an eye out for 1/2 gallon glass jars.

Today, we went to the monthly auction at Yoakum, Texas, and scored two boxes of OLD canning jars. There were six half gallon jars, four of them are clear glass, one is blue glass, one is green glass. The other 16 jars are mostly old quarts and pints with different names and decorations on them than I've ever seen.

They also had glass lids and zinc rings.

We paid only slightly more for those boxes of 22 jars than we would have for six new 1/2 gallon jars. WOOOHOOOOO!!

That is a score - only if I found a bunch of antique jars, I wouldn't be using them for goat milk. You could probably sell a few on Ebay and use the profit to buy new jars for your milk.
