Matching Nigerian Triplets & A question

Matching Nigerian Triplets & A question - Goats

Two boys and one girl. The girl is the one who is getting breakfast. (She later laid down and drank like a puppy.)

Rain has decided the dawg (Cassidy) is part of her family. The dog is cool with that. ;-) She loves goats but they generally object to her presence.

A question for you guys -- see the baby in the middle? He has a "crease" in his hair going all the way around his belly. He's also noticeably smaller than the others. I don't see any anatomical abnormalities (no hernias, etc.), he moves fine, and he's eating. I haven't seen him poop yet. Any idea what caused that? I worry about underlying structural issues when I see something like that, but he seems okay so far.

I see what you are talking about. Looks like he was shaved or clipped from the middle, down.

I have no idea - I, too would wonder if everything was structurally ok.

Very cute picture! I wouldn't worry about the hair thing....It's probably just the way it dried or was crooked while inside mommy or something. I have a cat that has an area on her head that has always stood straight up. One of my horses gets swirls on his face in the winter...looks real funny
Very cute babies...Congrats!

It's not how it dried -- I noticed it as soon as I saw him, and the hair's a different texture. There's definitely a perfect circle around the baby where the hair is different -- a slightly different texture.

Someone I know just suggested he could have had the cord wrapped around him in utero, but the circle's almost too perfect. It's really weird.

Be interesting to see if it stays like that when he grows.

That is so odd!! But as a nd lover, they are adorable. Someone who might have an explanation/answer is Cheryl Moore-Smith of Old Mountain Farm in Maine or Ann Peterson of Rosasharn Farm in Mass. I hope they don't mind my giving their names out, but they are 2 of the biggest and they've been doing the breeding and showing thing a long time, so they probably have seen just about everything. If not, at least they'll see something new too. Keep us posted.

It's a lot less noticeable now, and he's doing fine -- eating, playing, growing, always has a full belly and is very alert. I'm going with the explanation that he had the cord wrapped around his middle. Only thing I can think of.
