Sick Baby

I had a little buckling born on the 29th of January. When he was born his mother was sitting on him while he was still in the sac. Luckily, i was home and got him cleaned off but I noticed his back legs "didn't work well." He has always been off balance even though I wrapped his legs for a few days and they seemed to correct themselves. A week or two ago he had some rattily breathing so I got him antibiotics and it cleared it. This week he has runny stools. I think it's cocci, but I'm not totally sure. His first poop looked milkey and gooey. Then it turned pale green and now it's runny brown. He doesn't seem affected by it but he also can't walk well because of his legs. He'll be in the vets office tomorrow after school. What should I do til then?

If you have any liquid sulfa, give him 1cc per 5 lb the first day and then 1cc per 10 lb for 4 more days. If you don't have that, do you have banamine. The dose is 1cc per 100 lb IM which should help slow the scours. Other meds for scours are Biosol, pig pump or Kaolin Pectin. If you have none of these, give Probios or yogurt and be sure he is hydrated (drinking milk or water).

I'm sorry he is having such a rough start, but my sons best lamb was the weakest sickest one in the beginning. Sometimes one problem hides others and you don't see the problem to treat until one problem clears. I use co-rid for cocci. You are probably doing the best thing taking him to the vet, I hope he gets better soon.
