Chances are it is only a pasteurizer. (We have something similar, probably a newer unit) Generally these should be used ONLY for pasteurizing. Going off the top of my head, I think it heats the milk up to about 165F. That temp is too warm for your colostrum....will turn it into useless pudding.
You will have to do the stovetop/ thermos method for the colostrum.
You should test it with water in the milk container. (I am assuming that you have a removable milk container, and then the outer shell (unit) that when the milk container is removed, you can see the heating element.) Set it up for a trial run with water in the milk container. When it shuts off, immediately put a thermometer in the milk tank and test the temperature of the water. Many of the units that I have come across have a small hole in the control housing that is attached to the tank. It is usually about 1/4" hole, and behind that is a srew that will allow you to adjust the temperature if necessary.
