thanks!

Yeah, that oat hay has been wonderful. I am trying something I have seen on here and not sure I am doing it right at all, but I figure, ....."What the hay!" Might as well try it. I am trying to sprout some oats. If it works, I'm thinking I might go out and glean the floor of my barn to feed my chickens, and maybe plant some of it to see if we can grow a patch of oats somewhere here, saving the seed for next winter, in case we get a bad winter like we have this year, what with the cost of grain going up so much. We did pretty good with the hay, still $2.50 a bale, but it was in very short supply. We don't need as much as a lot of people around here, but still, when you need it and can't find enough, that's a problem, which is why I didn't feed it to my chickens this year, but, if I can set aside a small piece of the farm and grow some oats, maybe I can get enough seed to feed the chickens next year and not take away from the hay supply for my other critters, and manage to cut the cost of the feed by at least a little bit. We'll see I guess.
