Please Help Doe Has Runny/shoved up eye
I went out this AM to feed my goats. I noticed one of my goats named Cleo's eye was shoved up. You can see half the pupil. It is runny red ring around eye and puffy. I don't know how her eye would have gotten shoved up. If she didn't have that shoved up eye I would have just thought an eye cold. Sometimes she can put her eye to almost normal to look at you but it just goes back to the same position. Any ideas on what happened or what is wrong? I have never put pics on before so in the morning (i am taking pic in morning)I will try to put on a pic of her eye. She has never wanted anyone to touch her and she is pretty much soaking up the attention. VERY unusual. Please .

I am so sorry about this, and I can not believe no on has answered you yet.
I have to say I have no idea at all about the eye. I guess I would really need to see a picture of it. If I understand you correct, the eye is like shoved up into her head, like up? Sorry I have no other way of thinking.
First what I would do is take a regular tea bag, have it in warm water and put it on the eye. I would move the tea bag around, side to side, an re dip it if you need. Hold that tea bag on for about 15 minutes at a time and try to do it three times a day. I do the tea bag thing for anything that has to do with the eyes, and it works great. Everything has healed. If it looks like a scratch or something, they I would put Neosporin(sp) in the eye. DO that three times a until the eye looks healed.

I am afraid she has pink eye or something contagious. She is in with another goat. And a pregnant goat in a side pen next to her. When I touch her I clean my hands real well so it hopefully won't spread to the others. I hear if a pregnant goat gets it that they can abort or go early. Am I right?

I was afraid it might also be this Chlamydia. Didn't know how to spell the name before. I was reading up on it at Fiascofarm.com.

Update eye is totally shut very puffy and runny. She really acts like she doesn't feel well at all. I have a pic of her at her hay thing with her head down agianst it and did that for a very long time. You can tell she just feels blah. I am trying to post pics I don't know how.

I would bet that this is an injury. the upturned eye was probably that way because of swelling beneath it, and you are now seeing the swelling progress. if she were mine I would be going to the vet asap to get some banamine for pain and topical neomycin to put in her eye.

Could she just have gotten dirt or straw in it which will make it puff up and water? Or could she have a scratch on the eye ball, think when you scrtach your eye it hurts and waters and if bad enough puffs up. Try washing the eye with clean water to see if that helps, wipe very carefully with a wet cloth so as to not do any more damage, if not a vet can put a dye in it to see the scratch or an alcer(?) There are creams the vet can give you that will help with the problem and relieve some of the pain. Hope this helps , good luck.

In the case that she just has something in her eye that is irritating it, wash it out with any eye wash from the drug store and put some triple anitbiotic ointment (neo suporin--(sp) in it.

It doesn't appear to have anything in it. Just puffy and runny. I can not get pics to work on here. I only know how to do the in e-mail. When I do it I just get all this stuff .

It sounds like an eye injury to me. Can you take a bright flashlight out, and have a really good look at the eye? (She won't like it, I'm afraid).
I second the eyewash - contact lens solution would work - and bathing with cold tea. Antibiotic eye ointment would certainly be a good idea too, just in case.
Eyes are amazingly resilient and heal quickly, if they're taken care of - fortunately. I had a pony that had a 1/2" gash in her cornea, right through! When I sold her, I could not remember which eye it was that she hurt - and the vet at first thought that she would go blind. My big horse, Teddy, had an abscess in his eye. Same thing - I can't remember which eye it was.

Sorry it took so long
here are the pictures for you, but they don't really show the eye problem.

One more picture
This one shows it a little better
Since it is not in both eyes I do not think it is pink eye. I am still leaning towards a injury and would wash it good and use an antibiotic ointment and wet tea bags on it for as long as she will let you hold it on there to help reduce the swelling.

Called the vet. The person who would know about that stuff wasn't there. There was a pic to where you could see the eye well. I'll try to get that one on. However in the above picture you can see it is really puffy around her eye. I'll try to see if I can't get a direct eye shot.

I know this might seem a funny question. Can you use Vetropolycin? It's just a eye antibotic. The vet gave it to me for my cats eyes because it was sick.

We rinsed her eye out and put in neosporin because I lost the cat eye stuff I had in my hand one second ago hehehe! I hope she starts doing much better. Will keep everyone updated on how she does.

Goats can and do just get pinkeye in only one eye. Besides doing the topical ointment, I'd also give her 5 days of Biomycin shots. It does look as if she's not feeling well. I'd also keep your pregnant doe where she doesn't have any contact with this one.

I went outside and her eye was a little more open tonight! I wash her eyes out in the morning and put in more neosporin. I'll let you all know what happens.
