question about tattooing

I have a new boer kid with a black head that need to be tattooed. I usually use black ink. What color ink would you suggest to show up. also another question do you tag you your kids at the same time you tattoo or do you wait till they get a little older and have bigger ears. even the little tags are almost as big as there ears. thank you all for your advise

I use the green roll-on ink for all colors. I apply ink, do the tattoo, apply more ink, apply a pinch of baking soda and rub it in the holes. The ones I did this year look great, very easy to read, even on my black-headed doe. I don't tag unless they're going to be sold. Many people that I know will tag ears as soon as they're born.
